ARCOS GARDENS IN THE SAS MASTERS 2010

Arcos Gardens congratulates Peter Sundmark (photo above), winner of the Arcos Gardens golf bag that was drawn during the SAS Masters 2010.

Bro Hof Slott GC situated north of Stockholm (Sweden) was for the first year hosting SAS Masters, the golf course has already received very good comments and good positions in different ranking list for new golf courses.

Richard S Johnson (SWE) won the tournament after holing a dramatic 30 foot putt on the last green for birdie and win of the tournament with one shot ahead of Rafa Echenique (ARG).

We would like to thank everyone that took their time to visit Arcos Gardens tent during the event and we hope to see you all soon in Arcos Gardens.

II CHARITY TOURNAMENT FRIENDS OF GOLDEN EAGLE

On the 24th of August, Arcos Gardens had the pleasure to host the second edition of the Friends of the Golden Eagle Foundation Charity Tournament.
The format for the tournament was four ball better ball in pairs for a total of 12 couples, all of them seamed to enjoyed the day at Arcos Gardens. The celebration of the prize giving was followed by a prize draw with plenty of gifts.
We want to thank the Foundation and all the participants for once again choosing our facilities for their annual tournament

BLANCA FERNÁNDEZ OCHOA VISITS ARCOS GARDENS

During the last Monday, 16th of August, Arcos Gardens had the honour of receiving the visit of the skier Blanca Fernández Ochoa, with the company of brothers, sisters and friends.

Blanca is the first Spanish ladie with an Olympic medal in the Winter Olympic Games, specifically the bronze medal of giant slalom in the Winter Olympic Games of Albertville, 1992.
All of them played 18 holes and enjoyed a pleasant lunch in our Club House.

They where pleased of being in Arcos Gardens, showing a great interest in repeating the experience.

Our team will be pleased of receiving them again!

Alvaro Venegas Gil, one of our Junior Academy members is currently leading the Cadiz Golf Circuit. Alvaro has been in the top 3 for every tournament has played, notching up two wins on the way with a recent second at the difficult san Roque New.

Another player currently being coached by Andrew Laird, the Junior Academy Professional at Arcos Gardens, is Pedro Romero Fernandez de Henestrosa. Pedro is a very talented golfer who has just completed a season at an acclaimed academy in Florida; however after seeing our facilities at Arcos Gardens, he decided to continue his development here. Andrew, Pedro´s coach commented `It is great fun working with such a dedicated young golfer! I would also like to congratulate him on winning the first tournament of the Arcos Gardens Summer Tour'

Last Saturday 26th June, Arcos Gardens members and guests played the yearly Summer Stableford competition.
Despite high temperature results were good. Prizes were rewarded to he 3 first positions in the 2 categories and to the winner of nearest the pin.

After the competition the participants enjoyed a summer lunch on the terrace of the clubhouse.

II Edition Arcos Gardens Legends Match Play

It is a pleasure for Arcos Gardens to have hosted the II Edition Arcos Gardens Legends, celebrated the last weekend of May.
The participants enjoyed activities such as riding horses, spa treatments, cocktails at the swimming pool, and of course, competing in the two team match play tournament. Both teams had a fantastic day of golf having very good results.

Friday 28th of May, we have had the pleasure of welcoming in Arcos Gardens the 4th edition of La Ser â€“ Iberdrola Tournament.

The event opened with a Stableford competition for a total of 81 players, who have enjoyed a fantastic golfing day.
The remaining guests, a group of 80 people approximately, have enjoyed also a Clinic given by our professionals Martin and Andrew, where they have tested their golfing abilities.

After the golf has followed a buffet for lunch with almost 180 guests. The celebration of the prize giving has been followed by a draw with plenty of prizes.
The event has ended with a flamenco show, where the audience have clapped hands and danced.

JOSÃ‰ JUAN ARIAS GUERRERO WINS THE SPANISH ARCHERY CHAMPIONSHIPS

Last weekend, the Spanish Championships of Traditional Archery and Open Air Archery were held in Cambrils (Tarragona). Amongst the competitors were two Andalucian archers from Cadiz, one of them our dear colleague JosÃ© Juan Arias Guerrero. We are delighted to announce that JosÃ© Juan, member of the Arcos Archers Club in CÃ¡diz was proclaimed Open-Air Champion, while CristÃ³bal Fraidias Marin of the Algar Archers Club also in CÃ¡diz, was crowned Champion in the traditional archery category, both fantastic achievements for these Andalucian archers.

]]> JosÃ© Juan demonstrated why he has thus far gained more points at the national level than any other archer. In a thrilling final, after going 5 â€“ 1 down, Juan JosÃ© made use of his arduous training and great experience of other finals to pull back and level the scores. With the final arrow of the competition, JosÃ© Juan shot the maximum score possible to go on and lift the trophy and achieve the title of Spanish National Champion. The spectacular fight back was very much appreciated by all those present and warranted a special mention when he was presented with his well deserved medal.

This year 2010 has been the first time that an archer has been proclaimed Champion twice in the same year in two different categories of archery. A couple of months ago JosÃ© Juan became champion of the Long Bow category which was held in La Rioja, and now this second achievement in the Open Air category.

This shows his commitment and dedication as well as the necessary skill to form part of the national team to compete in the next European Championships. After winning four national titles, it will be almost impossible not to include our rising young star to represent Spain in international competitions.
