Congratulations to Juan Jose Arias, Champion Archer of Spain 2010!!
We would like to offer our warmest congratulations to our colleague José Juan Arias Guerrero who was crowned Champion for the Longbow in the 3rd Spanish Championships that was held on 27th and 28th February 2010 in Calahorra (La Rioja).
This was another title to add to his collection, but this time in a different category to the one he normally practices.
Well Done José!! Keep it up and we will be sure to see you winning more championships.
The Longbow is the traditional English bow (as used by Robin Hood!) and shoots long wooden arrows. This form of archery is all about accuracy and precision and requires great concentration and physical fitness.
José Juan has started this year in great form, and after winning trophies in the Provincial and Andalucian competitions, progressed to the national championships whose finals were held on 27th February (which coincided with “Andalucia Dayâ€). In the final he faced last year’s champion, an archer from the Principality of Asturias and after a close competition, walked away with the title - a prize that he wants to share with all his colleagues at Arcos Gardens.
José Juan was archery champion of Spain in 2008 and 2009 and took 5 years to win the four forms of competitive archery. In May he will participate in the “Absolute Champion of traditional archery in Cambrils (Tarragona).
