A collection of 20 beautiful old cars, from the Ford Model T up to such prestigious classic models as the Cadillac, Mercedes and Bentley came to visit us on Sunday to spend the day relaxing on the estate and golf course, and savour the best food in the province. The Club de Vehiculos Historicos del Puerto de Santa Maria, led by its President Fosco Valimaña Lechuga, left very impressed with the facilities and we hope that some of the club's members will join our community in the future.
Day 3 of 3
13th October 2006
Friday the 13th saw the local "levante" wind blow making it a difficult day for all. The course designed with the prevailing wind in mind showed all its defences as not one player managed to go under par. The best round of the day came from Portugal's, Antonio Rosado, who showed fine control to finish with a level par 72. His score helped his country to retain first place however England managed to dig deep to force a tie. In the spirit of this event prizes where awarded to both teams and the result tied.
On lookers where very impressed with Portugal's Pedro Figueiredo, at only 15 years of age, he is certainly one to watch.
However, Oliver Fisher was the player of the week winning the individual by 3 clear shots. In his winners speech he thanked Arcos Gardens for holding this event adding that he really enjoyed the course.
We wish all the players good luck for the up coming Eisenhower Trophy in South Africa.

Day 2 of 3
12th October 2006
El Dia del Pilar, a national holiday here in Spain did not see the players of this interesting challenge match relaxing, as another perfect day for golf saw scores going low. Pedro Figueiredo of Portugal followed his 69 from yesterday with an easy looking 67 but the 17 year old St Andrews Links Trophy holder, Oliver Fisher moved into first place, carding a near perfect 64 with 8 birdies and no dropped shots. "This amateur star sure showed his class today" said one onlooker.
Oliver's score also aided his country, moving England up to joint first with Portugal.
Peter Mattsson, EGU director of coaching watching his players closely.

A near perfect golfing day with little or no wind encouraged good scoring for the first day of the Arcos Gardens European Challenge. Although fast and true greens gave some defence and stopped a really low score being returned.
The story of the day was Pedro Figueiredo from Portugal who was 6 under after 11 holes but after a double bogey, bogey finish on the tough finishing holes returned a 69.
Portugal lead the team event with a one shot lead over Germany and Maximilan Kramer leads the individual after a very consistent round of 68.
